Our research team is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of renewable energy and next-generation optoelectronics. With a primary focus on organic solar cells, perovskite solar cells, organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), and 2D materials, we are working to create sustainable and efficient solutions for the energy and electronics industries. Our team comprises a diverse group of experts, including two postdoctoral researchers, five PhD students, and four master’s students, all working together in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.

Safakath Karuthedath

Biography

Safakath Karuthedath’s research focuses on studying energy conversion processes in photovoltaic materials and devices such as organic and perovskite solar cells, organic light emitting diodes, photocatalytic systems, and 2-dimensional materials using advanced steady-state and transient all-optical and electro-optical spectroscopies. In 2015, he got his doctorate in Condensed Matter Physics and Nanotechnology from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), Spain. Thereafter, he joined King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Saudi Arabia as a postdoctoral fellow, and in 2022, he became a research scientist at KAUST. He joined Tsinghua University SIGS, China, in 2023 as an assistant professor and currently heading the ultrafast spectroscopy and device physics lab. He has published more than 50 research articles in in science journals, including Nature Materials, Nature Communications, Advanced Energy Materials, Advanced Materials, Energy Environmental Science, Journal of American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie IE.
